Dark Chocolate Truffles

Standard

Woah. These truffles are pretty much the best thing ever. They are insanely decadent and uber chocolatey. These are the perfect gift for the holidays and perfect for any dark chocolate lover. IMG_1995They have a secret ingredient that NO ONE will suspect. Promise. I tried it, and I was like, “are you sure there’s avocado in this?” And I made it myself! You might even want to keep this for yourself… hide it behind everything in the fridge and sneak it out when no one’s home.
I’ve included two ways to make this, so there is NO EXCUSE to not make this. ;D

Dark Chocolate Truffles

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • optional: pinch salt, optional but I always add a little
  • optional: vanilla extract, peppermint extract, almond extract, etc.
  • To coat you can use cocoa powder, crushed almonds, crushed pistachios

Handmade Version

Mash the avocado with a fork on a cutting board or bowl until smooth. Melt chocolate in 30-second intervals and stir until smooth and melted. Mix in the avocado and add the rest of the ingredients. Leave in the fridge, covered, for about 20-40 minutes, or until hard. Then use a tablespoon or cookie scoop and roll with your hands. Then roll in topping and serve immediately or leave in the fridge covered for about a week.

Food Processor/Blender Version

Melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval. Then add avocado, chocolate, and other ingredients to a blender until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and leave in the fridge for 20-40 minutes. Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to scoop out the chocolate mixture and roll with your hands. Roll in the topping and serve.
